Celestia is a 45-metre traditional Indonesian phinisi, built by hand in Bira, South Sulawesi, and now one of the best-known charter yachts in the archipelago, sailing Komodo, Raja Ampat and the Spice Islands. You can see more of her on the Celestia website.
The brief
Early in 2022 the owners asked us to fit out the whole interior: seven en-suite staterooms, the saloon and dining areas, and the corridors and staircases, to designs by the interior designers Deirdre Renniers Associates of Cape Town and Singapore. They came to us on the strength of the joinery we had made earlier for the superyacht Galileo G.
What we made
- Built-in beds and headboard units, and built-in wardrobes and cabin units on the upper and lower decks
- Saloon furniture
- False ceilings and beams, wall panelling and wall finishes
- Doors and frames, and the lower-deck staircase
- Vanities with marble tops and mirrors, wall tiling and bathroom wall cladding
- Lower-deck hull cladding
- Cushions and throw pillows in quick-dry foam, with Sunbrella covers
The woodwork is finished in a satin PU lacquer.
From hull survey to first charter
In July 2022 our team went to Sulawesi with the owners to survey the hull. The following month she sailed to Serangan harbour in Bali, where the fit-out was done. Installation began in December 2022 and was finished in July 2023, in time for her first charter.
Much of the work was below deck, in tight spaces, against a fixed launch date. With the owners in Jakarta and New York, we kept everyone in step with weekly video calls that included Segara Marine, the yacht's charter managers in Bali, and worked alongside the electricians and plumbers on board.
Since launch
Celestia has since been a finalist in the Hospitality Design Awards, won a Gamechangers Travel Award and been named one of TIME's World's Greatest Places of 2025. Her owner has named our work among the reasons for her success.
